Located close to nature reserve De Maashorst, embedded between the dense forest and incredible views. Holenberg has been named one of the 10 best eco-friendly places to stay in Europe by the renowned British newspaper The Guardian.

As winter lovers, we decided to experience a stay the moment it started to get colder outside. We packed warm with the new Cortazu Hybrid Fleeces, Mountain Mid-Layers and Mountain Hard Shells. Well prepared for the cold! It’s important to be well prepared for a stay. Think about a beanie, warm socks, good shoes and more!

We’ve started to live further and further away from nature, which is why we sometimes need to take a step back and enjoy nature to the fullest. Don’t you agree? What’s better than dreaming away with your favorite book by the fireplace and enjoy a steaming hot bath while looking at a crystal-clear starry sky? And how cool that it’s possible to turn inside into outside again with this beautiful cabin?

The moment we arrived we immediately fell in love with the cabin and its design. The fall colors were still visible which made the surroundings look even more beautiful, especially from inside the cabin.

We arrived on a cold afternoon and immediately fired up the fireplace. The cabin provides all you need to keep yourself warm and cozy on such days. We decided to cook ourselves a delicious meal and chill for the evening to prepare for some walks the day after.

When the night started, we got treated with a clear sky after a full day of clouds and even some rain. The clear sky immediately showed us what’s so special about Cabin ANNA. With the lights turned off it was possible to enjoy a sky full of stars from inside the cabin. We’ve never experienced anything like it before. 

Waking up was a special experience. Looking straight into the trees and the sky when opening your eyes is something different! We picked up our breakfast box near the house and enjoyed a delicious breakfast with some good coffee. After breakfast we prepared for a walk through De Maashorst Nature Reserve. This means warm clothes and good shoes! 

We went out for just a short walk, but we know for a fact that there’s a lot to see in the area if you have some more time to spend. You have a great chance to see wild animals such as a Wisent, Tauros and Exmoorpony. It’s actually one of the biggest natural reserves of The Netherlands. 

We walked through the forest and to a heather field a bit further away and enjoyed the beautiful fall colors. We’ll let the images speak to show you what it was like!
