Maintenance and Care
Information on the Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating: your Cortazu jacket has a DWR coating, which causes water to bead and roll off, making its fabric water repelling. This treatment prevents the fabric from attracting dirt, making it more breathable, while simultaneously giving optimal moisture vapor transportation to the fabric. As time goes by, this coating will slowly wear off, especially in vulnerable places like the seat, knees, shoulders and elbows. Re-application of the DWR treatment is important and will restore your jacket's performance.
When to apply Durable Water Repellant (DWR): Renewal of the DWR coating is recommended when your jacket is wetting out. Use your own discretion for the reapplication frequency, also depending on your jacket's usage.
Washing Instructions
To avoid any mishaps when washing, follow the instructions below carefully:
Step 1 | Preparation for washing: Close all zippers and velcro and release tension on all elastic draw cords. Remove dirt and impurities on the jacket before it is actually washed by simply rinsing it with water.
Step 2 | Washing: The garment should be washed in cold water (20 degrees), with a liquid detergent and no softening or rinsing agents. If possible, try using a cleaning agent made specifically for technical fabrics (we recommend Nikwax). Do not use bleach. It is best to rinse the garment one more time after washing to ensure there is no detergent left on the fabric. Do not dry-clean.
Step 3 | Reapply water-repellent (if necessary): Remove your Cortazu from the washing machine once washed and shake off the excess water. Hang the damp jacket and spray DWR evenly on the wet face fabric of the garment, focusing on the high-wear areas mentioned above.
Step 4 | Drying: Let the jacket hang out to dry naturally.
General tips: Remember, the jacket must be totally dry before being stowed away. Also good to keep in mind that the environment you store the garment should not be too hot or too humid.
Warranty
We guarantee the quality and performance of all our jackets. If your Cortazu fails due to a manufacturing defect (materials and/or workmanship) we will repair it without charge, or replace it, at our discretion - if the issue is reported to us within three years of the jacket’s purchase. Only original and unmodified fabrics and materials are covered by this policy. Normal wear and tear damages are not covered by warranty.
