Type of Insulation & Layering
Down vs. Synthetic Insulation
Featherless 3M™ FL700
For years, outdoor brands have used down as insulation for their mid-layers. Down is extremely warm and packable, but it doesn't perform when wet. While synthetic insulation is bulky and not as warm. But wouldn't it be great if you could combine the warmth and packability of down with the versatility of synthetic insulation?
Together with our supplier we now present a unique material that mimics down when dry, and performs better when wet, introducing the 100% Recycled Featherless 3M™ FL700 insulation. It is super warm, animal friendly and comparable to that of 700 Fill Power Down.
Layering your outfit
This premium Mid-layer jacket is warm, breathable and perfect for layering in colder conditions. This type of mid-layer will keep you protected throughout the winter season, whether your are hiking, skiing or just for everyday use.
During winter season, unpredictable weather conditions are inevitable. This jacket gives you the versatility you need. Use the Mid-Layer as layer underneath a Cortazu Hard Shell or wear it as a standalone piece.

Ethical Manufacturing
The manufacturing process of our products has been carefully curated with a focus on a transparent, people-first approach. By concentrating our efforts on fair working conditions and long, meaningful relationships with our suppliers, we ensure that our manufacturing is as ethical as possible.
Our products are manufactured by Toray in Vietnam, which is a producer for many prominent outdoor brands. The long term relationships we have built with both our suppliers and manufacturers gives us unrivaled control of every step in the supply chain and lets us be highly selective on the partners we work with. Importantly, this allows us to ensure our products are produced in a sustainable manner and the working conditions of workers at every step of the supply chain are not just fair, but great.
Technical Innovation
One way we minimise our impact is through technical innovation. Upon realising the negative impact that nylon has on the environment, combined with the sheer prevalence of nylon usage in the outdoor fashion industry, we set about to innovate something that had never been done before. To create the world’s first 3-layer outdoor jacket made of 100% recycled nylon. Thanks to this innovative creation, Cortazu was selected by a jury panel of 43 judges and received an ISPO Gold Award in 2019.
Recycled components: Another important step in minimizing our impact is the choice of components. The fabric used for the mid-layer is an 100% Recycled Polyester from Toray which is water-resistant and includes a Durable Water Repellent treatment (DWR). The fabric denier is 20D and 100% of the fabric fibers in this product are recycled.

Quality prodoct
I´ve tested jacked today on our winter hike. Jacket is really warm I would welcome maybe a bit better breathability for longer hikes. I would also welcome a longer sleeves for my height 180cm and longer amrs (Size S). But what is annoying is a zipper. Overall I´m pleased with the product.
Warm and easy
Comfortable warm jacket. Also enough pockets with zipper! The size (m) is a little bit smaller than same size from another (equal) top-brand. The sleeves are also little bit short if you you it as “stand alone”. As an under layer jacket it is quite okay. Good quality, nice green color.
Excellent quality and value for money
Warmth and packability, premium quality without the price tag! I am quite pleased with my purchase so far. I have yet to see what happens in the rain. I am in Amsterdam so I will most definitely come across this situation The upgraded version should be even better with the hood and upgraded zipper, but I knew what I was buying when I did.
Good quality but not so good
I bought Mountain Mid-Layer jacket Chili Red but I changed it with a Mid-Layer Recycled jacked Chili Red because the size. Mountain Mid-Layer jacked had a high quality. It was lighter, packable, more brethable and using a different insulation product. Mid-Layer Recycled jacked has good quality but it's a little more stiff, less brethable, no packable. Zip should be better and sleeves are a little short. I raccomend this jacked.
Good quality but not so good
I bought Mountain Mid-Layer Jacket chili red but size was small. I changed it with Mid-Layer recycled Jacked chili red and quality was good but Mountain Mid-Layer had superior quality. Mountain Mid-Layer was lighter, packable (because its made of the Airtastic™ fabric from Toray which is supersoft), is more breathable and the two chili red colors are not egual. So, Mid-layer recycled is a bit more stick but is very confotable and warm. Zip could be better and sleeves could be a little be longer. Certainly I will buy cortazu product again.
Good but not high quality
I bought mountain mid layer and its quality was very top (high brethable, packable and light) but size was small. I changed with a mid- layer recycled but it was not so light, not packable ( not Toray insulation) and a bit more stick. Also red chili color was not the same. The quality is good, zip could be better and sleeves could be a little be longer
